Reviews

There are no reviews on this page, and we want to be straightforward about why rather than quietly leaving it blank.

This page is intentionally empty.

We do not publish reviews, star ratings, testimonials, awards, or a years-in-business figure that we cannot verify. When we have real, attributable reviews from real customers, they will appear here and nowhere else.

Why we would rather have an empty page

Fabricated social proof is close to standard practice in emergency home services. Invented testimonials with stock-photo faces, star ratings on a site nobody can trace, round-numbered customer counts that come from nowhere — these are cheap to produce and they work, which is why they are everywhere.

They are also deceptive, and in the United States the Federal Trade Commission treats fake reviews and testimonials as exactly that. We took the view early that we would rather explain an empty page than fill it with things that are not true. If you have read any of the cost guides on this site, this is the same principle applied to a different section: publish what is real, say plainly what is not known, and let people decide.

It costs us something. A page with fifteen five-star reviews converts better than this one. We think the trade is worth making, and if you are comparing us against a company whose review page looks perfect, that is a comparison worth thinking about rather than just counting stars.

What to judge a chimney company on instead

Reviews are a weak signal in this trade for a structural reason: a chimney review is written the day the work is done, which is the one moment the customer has the least information about whether it was done well. The flue is the part nobody can see. Whether the brush actually reached the top, whether the glazed creosote came off, whether the crown repair holds through a Syracuse winter — none of that is knowable on the day the invoice is paid.

These five things are knowable before you sign, and they predict the outcome far better:

01

Published pricing

A company that publishes real ranges is telling you what things cost before someone is standing on your roof describing a problem you cannot see. "Call for pricing" exists so the number can be set after they have seen how worried you are. Every service page on this site carries its range.

02

Whether they name the inspection level

NFPA 211 defines Level 1, 2, and 3, and each covers a specific scope. A company that says "we inspected it" without saying which level is describing something unmeasurable. A company that sells you a Level 2 when a Level 1 would do is doing the opposite.

03

Whether you get to see the flue

The middle of a chimney is only visible on camera, which means every finding in that section is either photographed or asserted. Ask whether a camera scan is included and whether you keep the images. If the answer is no, you are being asked to take their word for the part that matters most.

04

A written scope before work starts

What is being done, what is not, and what it costs. This is where a $3,000 "repair" and a $7,500 "restoration" turn out to describe the same work with a different scope line — and without those lines, two quotes cannot be compared at all.

05

Whether they will tell you no

Ask what they would charge to recast a crown that only has hairline surface cracks. The right answer is that it does not need recasting — sealing it costs a fraction and will hold. A company that quotes the recast anyway is telling you something useful.

Apply all five to us as readily as to anyone else. Our ranges are on every cost guide and service page, we name the inspection level we performed, and the camera footage and photo report are yours to keep — including if you want to take them to someone else for a second opinion.

If we have worked for you

We would like to hear how it went — including if it went badly, which is the feedback that actually changes anything. Call (315) 803-6759 or email info@syracusechimneypros.com.

What we will not do is offer a discount, a gift card, or anything else in exchange for a positive review. That practice violates the guidelines of every major review platform, and it is precisely what makes review scores in this industry worth so little.

Questions about this page

Why are there no reviews on this page?

Because we will not publish reviews we cannot verify, and we would rather have an empty page than a fabricated one. Invented testimonials and star ratings are common in this industry and they are deceptive. When we have real, attributable reviews from real customers, they will appear here.

How should I judge a chimney company then?

On the written scope. Does it say which inspection level was performed? Does it include a camera scan of the flue interior, and will you get the images? Does it state what was found rather than only what will be done? Does it distinguish what is unsafe now from what to plan for? Those four answers tell you more about the outcome than any review ever will.

Can I leave a review?

If we have done work for you, we would genuinely like to hear how it went — call the line or email us. What we will not do is offer an incentive for a positive review, which is both against the guidelines of every review platform and a good way to make reviews meaningless.

Are online chimney company reviews reliable in general?

Treat them with some caution. A chimney review is almost always written the day the work is done — which is the one moment when the customer has the least possible information about whether it was done well. The flue is the part nobody can see, and whether the sweep actually reached the top or the crown repair holds through a winter is not knowable on the day. That is a structural problem with review data in this trade, not a claim about any specific company.
